GAP Group NE Ltd joins the Newcastle Falcons with 3 year shirt sponsorship deal

Pioneering recycling and logistics business Gap Group (NE) Limited has signed a three year partnership agreement that has seen the company take pride of place on the back of the Newcastle Falcons shirt.

The three-year deal with Newcastle Falcons, which will see GAP Group become a main partner of the club, is the latest continuation of what is a long-standing relationship between the organisations with GAP Group having sponsored the club in various ways since 2014, including the sponsorship of club captain and the provision of waste processing and recycling services.

Newcastle Falcons commercial executive Rebecca Thompson said: “It’s great to have agreed a new deal with GAP Group NE and to have continued to build on the scope of how our businesses work together as they move to becoming one of our main partners.

“Our sustainability initiatives are closely aligned, as is our commitment to the North East of England. It’s always a pleasure to work with likeminded companies and we’re looking forwards to continuing to build our relationship with the team.”

Family-run organisation, GAP Group employs 120 people in the North East and has grown into one of the UK’s leading electrical waste processors, operating processing lines including Europe’s most advanced, environmentally-friendly fridge reprocessing facility capable of recycling more than 700,000 fridges a year using all-gas capture recycling technology.

Peter Moody managing director of GAP Group (NE) Limited said: “The great team at the Newcastle Falcons that has been created both on and off the pitch, coming at such a turbulent time in the sport, bodes well for the future. The new coaching team is bringing a dynamic and effective way of playing, with Rebecca Thompson and the commercial team helping to safeguard long term financial stability.

“We’ve had a relationship with the Newcastle Falcons for 15 years and as our business has developed we have increased what we do with them and this sponsorship deal is a natural progression. We are both North East organisations with great pride in the region supporting North East people; the work undertaken by their charitable arm the Falcon’s Community Foundation is truly exceptional.”

Peter and GAP senior management are also particularly keen to promote the importance of active sustainability, something which closely aligns with Newcastle Falcons’ focus on increasing sustainability in sport.

The carbon savings GAP is now achieving annually is the equivalent of a family car driving to the sun and back and shrewd technological investment has led to dynamic growth with GAP becoming the North East Business Awards 2022 High Growth and Ambition winner.
