National Dance Champion Volunteers at Dartford Care Home
Ballroom and Latin dance national champion Kyle Butcher turned down a dance competition to volunteer at his favourite place - Haslington Lodge Care Home in Greenhithe Dartford.
Just 16 years of age, and still at school, studying at Thamesview school Gravesend, Kyle was inspired to volunteer after visiting the Care Home during its summer fete with his mother Maureen, a domestic worker at the home.
Kyle spends his time during the weekends and school holidays volunteering by assisting with reminiscence sessions, sing-alongs, conversation, and sharing a few of his dance moves with everyone.
During his time volunteering Kyle has been recognised as an ‘employee’ of the month, receiving a certificate of gratitude for all his hard work and dedication to the home and the people that call it home.
Rachel Lucas, Manager at Haslington Lodge Care Home says: “Kyle absolutely loves volunteering at Haslington Lodge. He loves chatting, plays games with the residents, and dancing with them, even doing their nails and hair. He has very quickly become a valued member of the team bringing such joy to all of us.
