Argentine steak restaurant set to deliver “unrivalled” menu at Newcastle venue

Popular Argentinian steak restaurant chain Gaucho is set to open its first North East restaurant in Newcastle in March 2023.

Bringing the restaurant group’s “vibrancy, elegance, and passion” for the cultural and culinary heritage of modern Argentina, Gaucho’s Newcastle site on Market Street will have 140 covers as well as two private dining rooms, one seating up to six diners and the other seating up to 12.

With famous restaurants across London, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Liverpool, Gaucho first opened its doors in London in 1994. This new restaurant will showcase Gaucho’s recent evolution in menus and design, inspired by modern Argentina and its global influences.

A “timely addition” to the city’s gastronomic fare, Gaucho Newcastle will become the first restaurant in the North East to serve exclusively carbon-neutral beef and embodies CEO Martin Williams’ vision for the way that restaurants should operate responsibly both socially and environmentally.

Gaucho Newcastle will be offering a lunch menu, evening à la carte, group sharing, group feast, as well as Gaucho’s Sunday Sessions, a bottomless Sunday Roast with live music each week.

Alongside an “unrivalled” selection of 100 per cent carbon-neutral steaks from Black Angus cattle, highlights from the à la carte menu include Shrimp Ceviche, Marinated Pork Matambre, Pasta Alla Norma as a vegan option and Salted Dulce de Leche Cheesecake from the dessert menu.

Rare Restaurants’ founder and CEO Martin Williams commented: “We are delighted to be bringing the Gaucho experience to the North East, where the restaurant will serve some of the finest beef in the world, complemented by a broad food and wine offering in a contemporary setting, inspired by Modern Argentina and all of its global influences.

“With Newcastle having such a rich historic culture and a diverse food scene, we feel the Gaucho brand and ethos will sit perfectly here.”

To craft the perfect interior design and complement the Grade II listed building on Pilgrim Street, Gaucho is partnering with Design LSM to intertwine the interior to compliment the heritage of the city.

Yasamin Nikoosimaitak: Marketing Manager at Design LSM said “We intend to introduce subtle crafted items that pay homage to the city’s historic roots and the craftsmanship of Newcastle’s past and future whilst bringing in Gaucho’s vibrancy, elegance and passion.”
