University of Sunderland launches short courses for businesses at Campus@Northallerton

The University of Sunderland is delivering short courses at Campus@Northallerton (C@N), the University’s newly established education hub in North Yorkshire, in 2023 to support staff and business development in the region.

C@N is a unique partnership between Hambleton District Council, the University of Sunderland and York College, providing further and higher education training courses to help businesses to fill skills gaps and provide employees with opportunities to learn.

The University is offering a series of free masterclasses in a range of subject areas, allowing individuals to gain new knowledge to support them in their current job role or help them to progress further in their careers. The University is also delivering accredited and paid short courses for those who would like more in-depth training.

The courses are aimed at individuals from private, public and third sector organisations including businesses owners, managers, employees, and any individual interested in developing their knowledge of the topics.

Dr Ian Carr, Principal Lecturer in Employability at the University of Sunderland, teaches on a range of courses being delivered at C@N. He said: “If you are wishing to develop and be more effective in your job role, to gain an understanding of the subject and how to apply it in your work context, then our courses can help you.

“The courses are applied to the individual to support their learning needs and introduce learners to concepts that they can use to explore their professional practice and the organisational challenges they are facing.

“Many students report a positive transformation in how they view themselves and how they approach their professional practice after completing a course.”

Norm Trees, a Cisco Engineer, recently attended a masterclass at C@N. He commented: “The masterclass was an excellent introduction to the topic. It was well delivered by a subject matter expert at the University and although I had a lot of experience in the subject area, I gained new knowledge from attending the class.”

The University designs and delivers a range of high-quality short courses facilitated by business practitioners with industry experience, employing a pragmatic approach that provides insight into you and your business. The University also designs bespoke courses to meet your business’s specific knowledge and skills requirements.

Dr Carr added: “The courses are an investment in you, your business and your sector, which can provide personal and professional insight that you can carry with you into the future, providing the tools to develop you, your teams, and your business.”

The University of Sunderland has years of successful experience in delivering workforce development, allowing employers to gain maximum value from their employees. You can find more information about each course here.
