Hampshire developer’s sustainable show home kicks off new “green” podcast

An eco-conscious developer in Hampshire has announced the launch of a new podcast – featuring its first ever sustainable show home in its premier episode.

The new podcast by Barratt Homes’ Southampton division will aim to drive conversations about sustainability within the property industry, while also debating global “green” topics around renewable energy, food waste, recycling and more.

The first episode, presented by Barratt Homes’ Marketing Manager Megan Hamlyn, welcomes Sam from national Interior design firm Edward Thomas Interiors, and was filmed at the leading developer’s forward-thinking Wimborne Development, Quarter Jack Park.

Megan said: “Edward Thomas Interiors recently helped create a bespoke, eco-conscious show home in one of our Quarter Jack Park show homes in Wimborne so we couldn’t think of a more perfect location to launch the podcast.

“We filmed directly from the three-bedroom “Moresby” design – which was chosen to reflect our strong commitment to sustainability and had a fascinating conversation with Sam about how they turn their vision into a reality, and how even the most amateur decorators can replicate their ideas.”

The 15-minute discussions will be hosted every month on all major streaming platforms and will also provide a deeper insight into how Barratt Homes’ reaches its personal “green” targets through its Building Sustainability Framework.

The Framework brings together Barratt Homes’ ambitions, targets, and activities to ensure that important issues and solutions are deeply rooted in every business decision and day-to-day action the company takes, covering factors such as biodiversity, carbon reduction and human rights.

Megan added: “We can’t wait for our eco-conscious community to tune in – it has been a real passion project for us and are thrilled with the final results.”

Episode one is currently available online. Episode two, which will feature UPOWA on the benefits of solar PV will be launched later in January.
