American fintech roadshow visits Leeds
FinTech North, which brings together the fintech community within the Northern Powerhouse, is partnering with the UK’s Department for Business and Trade (DBT) to co-host a ‘Fintech opportunities in the US market’ session as part of the North America Roadshow which is touring 12 UK cities and will visit Leeds on Tuesday 7th March.
Taking place at The Met Hotel in Leeds from 2pm-4pm, speakers will include Julian Wells, director of FinTech North and Whitecap Consulting, and Joe Roche, engagement manager at FinTech North, as well as Rytas Stankunas, senior trade officer with the UK Government’s DBT in New York who supports fintech businesses from the UK landing in North America.
They will discuss opportunities for UK fintechs operating in the areas of payments and financial transactions, banking, investments, insurance and cryptocurrency in the US market.
Zandra Moore, CEO of Leeds-based analytics and business intelligence software business Panintelligence, will also talk about lessons learned from the company’s US market entry over the last four years and how it is making headway across the Atlantic with the Amazon AWS platform.
UK fintechs will also be able to find out more about market opportunity in the US insurance sector via the new transatlantic Insurtech Corridor initiative which is opening doors within the insurance and risk markets in the US via Hartford, Connecticut. As well as time to network with speakers, guests and founders from the UK and US.
“There’s no doubt that as one of the largest markets in the world and with such a close relationship with the UK, North America offers huge opportunities for British fintechs,” comments Julian Wells, director of FinTech North and Whitecap Consulting.
“The UK is renowned for quality and innovation, and Leeds has become one of the most dynamic tech hubs in the country. With so much talent in the region, it’s great to see an event like this encouraging more fintechs to seize the opportunity to think big and expand across the Atlantic.”
