10 Promotions, Blacks solicitors
One of Yorkshire’s leading law firms, Blacks Solicitors is marking the start of a promising year with the promotion of 10 team members.
Five teams across the Firm have seen colleagues promoted; corporate & commercial, residential property, commercial dispute Rrsolution, wills & probate and family. The £14.9m turnover Firm currently employs over 195 staff across 19 specialisms.
Sarah Brown and Dean Goodwin (Residential Property), and Alex Hall (Corporate and Commercial) have been promoted to senior associate chartered legal executives, while Hayley Blackburn (corporate & commercial) and Liam Douglas (residential property) have been promoted to associate chartered legal executives.
Commenting on his promotion, Dean Goodwin said ‘‘It’s a privilege that my dedication to the Firm over the last nine years has been recognised. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with most of the leading specialist buy-to-let mortgage lenders. I am dedicated to continuing to deliver a highly valued and quality service to our clients as I move into my new role.’’

Victoria Boid & Chris Thomson, Ison Harrison
Yorkshire law firm Ison Harrison has made two new appointments, further boosting its company and commercial law division. Victoria Boid joins as a partner in the corporate team and Chris Thomson as commercial litigation solicitor. Both will be based at Duke House, the firm’s city centre headquarters in Leeds.
In her new position, Victoria will work closely with Richard Coulthard, Director and Head of Commercial services at Ison Harrison. Chris Thomson is an experienced solicitor in commercial litigation work with a particular specialism in professional negligence, housing disrepair and financial mis-selling.
Previously with Jordans Solicitors and latterly heading up the professional negligence department, Chris brings over 14 years’ legal experience to his new role within Ison Harrison’s company and commercial division.
Chris has specialist expertise in professional negligence claims against solicitors, unions, accountants and financial advisors and previously represented former coal miners recovering compensation for vibration white finger, where previous claims were under-settled.
Commenting on the appointments, Richard Coulthard, said: “We are delighted to welcome our newest recruits, Victoria and Chris to the firm’s company and commercial division. Our commercial services teams grew by over 30 per cent in the last financial year and these appointments further expands our commercial offering.”
Adele Walker, BRM Solicitors
Growth continues at regional law firm BRM Solicitors with a new appointment to its Sheffield Real Estate team.
The arrival of solicitor Adele Walker, who advises clients in a variety of sectors with particular experience advising healthcare professionals on the acquisition, disposal, funding, and letting of commercial properties, brings the BRM Real Estate team to 17, split between transactional and dispute resolution departments.
Adele will be working closely with Senior Associate Chris Hey who undertakes a wide variety of commercial real estate work with significant experience and expertise acting on urban regeneration projects for developers and portfolio management work for investors. She will also support the corporate team with property elements of business acquisitions and disposals.
Chris said: “Adele’s experience and personal touch will give her a strong rapport with our clients and a real understanding of the challenges they are dealing with. She is a great addition to our growing team.”
Adele said: “I am delighted to join the BRM team. The calibre of lawyers and standard of work at BRM is very high, I am very excited about what the future holds for myself and the firm.”
