TaperedPlus launches innovative, non-combustible roof insulation system design for roofs with anticipated loadings.
Roofing design company TaperedPlus is driving innovation within the UK flat roofing sector after developing a new non-combustible insulation system that delivers greatly increased point load performance.
The ROCKDeck System is specifically designed for balconies, terraces, and plant room roofs while its robust qualities also make it ideal for areas containing roof mounted equipment that requires non-combustible insulation below.
The Stockton-on-Tees based company has launched ROCKDeck following a collaboration with international insulation manufacturer ROCKWOOL.
It combines the non-combustible and dual density properties of ROCKWOOL insulation with its own ROCKDeck coverboard to produce exception results when tested to European standard EN 1606:2013.
Both products when tested to BS EN 13501-1, achieve A2-s1, d0 or A1 fire performance classifications which is essential when a non-combustible performance specification is required for a roofs insulation system. Combustible coverboards have been available in the roofing market for some time but their use will unfortunately result in a combustible insulation system, even when used in conjunction with a non-combustible insulant.
The ROCKDeck coverboard provides added robustness to the insulation system, with its US manufacturers benefiting from the product being FM approved across thousands of complete roof assemblies.
TaperedPlus, founded in 2014 by Directors, Aman Chahal and Rob Vass, has grown to become a national leader in the provision of flat roof design and roofing materials.
It has been involved in several prestigious construction projects, involving Bristol Airport, Canterbury Christ Church University, and the Mercedes F1 AMG operations facility.
Aman Chahal said: “We have developed long term relationships with ROCKWOOL and use their products as part of our range of flat and tapered roofing solutions to achieve the highest quality results.
However, we were seeking to solve a specific problem within construction industry by giving our clients commitment on how a non-combustible insulation system can perform under point load.“
“Having had the idea, we consulted our partner manufacturers, and combined exceptional qualities to create a brand-new solution, ROCKDeck.
“It is already attracting a very positive reaction from architects and construction companies because it incorporates so many great qualities – which, due to its strength, also increases a building’s sustainability by extending the product’s lifespan.”
