Flexible workspace provider announces expansion to Wimbledon and Battersea
WOW Workspaces, which currently provides a solution to over 150 businesses at five locations, has announced its expansion across London in 2023.
The company will bring its “unique” proposition to small businesses and entrepreneurs in Wimbledon and Battersea. The new locations join the wider portfolio found in Wembley, Acton, Ealing, Park Royal and Battersea.
The WOW concept was born from a personal encounter with how small businesses and entrepreneurs were using traditional self-storage as a base for their business, balancing laptops on boxes and hot spotting from their phones for wifi.
Quickly understanding how impractical this way of working was, WOW was created to provide a suitable home for these entrepreneurs, and a community of them to be a part of.
Flexibility is at the heart of the offering, from the financials to the spaces themselves. Uncommon within the industry, short term leases from six months to a year, along with a small two month deposit mean small businesses typically “handcuffed by extensive lease terms and hefty deposits” are able to move their business to a professional space easily.
Additionally, with all units ranging in size from 150 sq ft to 1,000 sq ft, small businesses can increase their space as they grow, whilst also qualifying for small business rate relief. The all-inclusive turnkey solution means members don’t need to worry about utilities, cleaning, or security giving them further peace of mind.
The buildings are industrial and design-led featuring timber panels and iron beams. Provided as a blank canvas, members are encouraged to customise their space to suit the needs of their business but also their personal aesthetic and style.
This “unique” offering creates a “diverse community” of members from coffee roasters to beauticians, e-commerce entrepreneurs to dental labs and jewellery designers to sneaker restorers.
WOW fosters this community by providing community spaces and events allowing its members to be part of a ‘We Work’-esque’ environment, to share ideas and provide support to one another.
Now just over a year after its launch, WOW is home to all kinds of businesses from e-commerce to food production and beauty specialists. Of the company’s 100 members, 50 per cent are e-commerce companies selling goods directly to customers, making the most of the storage and distribution services.
