Liverpool digital signature specialists enter the Metaverse

Electronic signature specialists Videosign have ventured into the Metaverse to show their innovative platform’s potential to improve security in the virtual world.

Videosign chief executive Steven Tallant recently met new staff member Jack Moore in virtual reality and used the company’s signature platform to sign the new contract of employment. The Metaverse is widely seen as the next stage in the evolution of the internet, allowing users to interact with each other in immersive 3D digital environments.

Steven said: “As software developers we love technology, so it was fun to meet Jack in the Metaverse and show how our platform can help to improve security when doing business in the virtual world.

“We developed Videosign because we could see that the growing use of electronic signature was open to abuse, and that businesses and consumers need robust ways of witnessing and evidencing documents that are signed remotely. The Metaverse is in its infancy, but it seems likely that doing business in the virtual world will eventually become as commonplace as video calls have become in recent years.

“That presents additional security risks when signing documents, but Videosign’s ability to verify the real person behind a digital avatar has the potential to reduce fraud and contract disputes.”

Videosign’s unique platform uses AI facial recognition to verify the identity of document signatories.

Users then join an online meeting via their normal web browser, where they can discuss contracts and documents before signing and witnessing takes place. The whole process is recorded, and the documents are sealed electronically to the highest European security standards.

As well as offering the highest levels of security and peace of mind when signing important contracts, Videosign can speed up processes by eliminating unnecessary travel and waiting for documents in the post.

Jack said: “It’s exciting to have joined a company like Videosign that is leading the way in transforming and improving the way we do business. The Metaverse represents the future of the internet, and we believe that Videosign can bring security benefits to the virtual world in the same way we do in real life.”

Videosign launched in the UK in 2019 following the introduction of new rules allowing for remote signing and witnessing of contracts.
