Essex Entrepreneur Alex Burnside crowned ‘Small Business Sunday’ winner by Theo Papthitis for the second time.
Essex educational entrepreneur Alex Burnside has done the double, by being recognised by Small Business Sunday for the second time. Alex, who has fifteen years experience in education, first received the prestigious title back in November 2018 for her children’s education class provider Phonics with Robot Reg, which she created with her sister Charlie. The classes, which aim to inspire a world of literacy to children and their families, now run at 55 locations across the country and internationally and Alex’s second business, Counting Kids has just received the acclaimed title once again.
The perfect addition to Phonics with Robot Reg, Counting Kids is a class designed to give preschoolers a head start when it comes to maths skills, which delivers 5 key concepts of early mathematical development through song, games and two fun mascots of Digit and Dot. Now at six locations across the UK, Counting Kids and Alex were honoured at Theo’s Small Business Event in Birmingham last week, where Alex met Theo and received her award, something just 0.8% of business owners who apply manage to achieve.
This joins a long list of achievements for the children’s educational business, which include franchising internationally (classes are now available in Australia) and previously being highly commended in the Best Franchise/Licensed Preschool Activity in the What’s on 4 Kids Awards.
Alex Burnside, founder of Counting Kids and co-founder of Phonics with Robot Reg, says: “I am absolutely thrilled to be selected for the second time by Theo Paphitis and recognised for all the work we are doing supporting young children’s numeracy skills at Counting Kids. Given only 0.8% of businesses who apply receive the accolade, I am over the moon that we’ve won it not once, but twice and it’s all thanks to our team of early years experts who are supporting children up and down the country with their numeracy and literacy skills.”
Counting Kids is a class designed to give preschoolers a head start when it comes to maths skills; with classes in North Devon, North Somerset, Reigate and Banstead, Shefford, Letchworth and Biggleswade, Walthamstow and Woodford and Loughton.
