Equans completes crucial works to Manchester Accessibility Hub

Equans is delighted to have completed the relocation and regeneration of the Manchester Equipment and Adaptations Partnership (MEAP) accessibility hub, with the service now based in one central location.

The MEAP provides a service to disabled and older people living in Manchester, helping them to maximise independence and quality of life. This ranges from small adaptions such as handrails and lever taps, to major adaptions such as ramps and walk-in showers.

The work, completed by Equans on behalf of Manchester City Council (MCC), was a critical part of the larger project with the relocation deadline ensuring other key projects could move forward for the council.

This is another key regeneration project that Equans has completed on behalf of MCC in the last 12 months, with the brand-new Wythenshawe Cycle Track opening to the public in the summer of 2022. This involved the creation of a brand-new cycle track on an unused area of Wythenshawe Park, along with a learn-to-ride area and surrounding footpaths.

The MEAP relocation scheme was awarded as part of the North West Construction Hub; a framework established in 2009 as part of a drive to improve efficiencies within the public sector. Equans has been a partner of the NWCH for over 10 years now, helping to regenerate public sector buildings.

This will improve the services available to vulnerable people in the city, and we’re glad to be a part of making this happen.”
