Celebrations at Kingdom Services Group as company marks 30-year milestone
Kingdom Services Group is this week celebrating 30 years in business – while still looking to the future and what comes next.
The leading support services provider has grown exponentially since launching in March 1993. The company started out offering security solutions, but has expanded over three decades to include healthcare, cleaning, recruitment, training, and local authority support.
With more and more firms joining the Group of companies and helping drive growth and profitability in their business by doing so. Among them is Colvin Cleaning, a Sussex-based professional cleaning services provider, which became part of Kingdom Cleaning last July.
And at the end of January this year, the Group completed the merger of Leeds-based Dutton Fisher Associates Limited, which now sits as part of the rebranded Kingdom Academy, which was previously known as Kingdom Training.
Terry Barton, Chief Executive Officer of Kingdom Services Group, says: “Every acquisition and contract award has been a real boost for Kingdom. Not only do we grow as a business, but we gain expertise and insight, which is invaluable when it comes to the wider Group operations. All have been and continue to be an outstanding asset to us.”
Through organic and acquisition growth Kingdom now boasts a turnover of more than £260 million and its colleagues make up a diverse workforce of more than 7,000.
Celebrations of the key 30-year milestone are being held at the National Support & Command Centre in Newton-le-Willows throughout the month and the Kingdom branding has also been updated to mark the proud occasion.
The company remains privately owned, with CEO Terry Barton at the helm as he was when the company started 30 years ago. Commenting on the milestone he says: “I’m not a big fan of looking back as we want to be a forward-looking business and are always keen to see what comes next, but to see what we have achieved in 30 years is quite something.”
“I want to thank every colleague for their commitment and dedication to the Group because their hard work and continued service has seen us become a world-leader in people and technology-driven solutions.
“Going forward, we want to be bolder, brighter and braver, and continue being the best in the business.”
For the first 20 years, Kingdom was primarily a highly successful security services company. The management team then saw the potential of expanding the company into new areas with the formation of Kingdom Cleaning.
Other highlights over the years include:
- 2013 marked the creation of Kingdom Local Authority Support supporting local authorities to deal with fly-tipping and anti-social behaviour.
- 2016 saw Kingdom make its first move internationally, launching Kingdom India in Kerala.
- 2016 also witnessed the opening of a new purpose-built head office opening in Newton-le-Willows.
- In 2017, Kingdom hit a key financial milestone, turning over more than £100 million.
- In 2019, Kingdom Systems and Kingdom Recruitment were formed as companies.
- Kingdom Healthcare, providing nurses and healthcare assistants to firms, was launched in 2020.
