This week’s Yorkshire appointments: Featuring The Banks Group, Honey and Aberfield Communications
This week’s round up of Yorkshire appointments includes The Banks Group, Honey and Aberfield Communications. Read on to find out more.
Russ Hall, The Banks Group
Property, minerals and renewable energy firm The Banks Group has chosen experienced industry professional Russ Hall to lead the next stage of the development of its property businesses in Yorkshire. Russ brings more than 20 years’ sector experience to the family firm and has taken on a new dual executive role.
He is now managing director of the company’s long standing property development arm, Banks Property, and has also taken on the same position with its new dedicated regional housebuilding company, Banks Homes, which operates across Yorkshire and the North East.
Russ has fulfilled a range of senior property roles in both the public and private sectors, and was previously managing director of residential developer Taylor Wimpey plc’s North East business, having worked his way up through a number of different executive roles with the company over the last decade.
Russ commented: “Banks’ strong position as a longstanding family firm, its ambitions to keep taking advantage of new opportunities through diversification and its longstanding focus on working positively with local communities made joining the company a very appealing option for me.
“Our extensive property development experience made it a logical step for us to start building new, high-quality and sustainable homes ourselves, and I’m aiming to use my experience of managing large-scale residential development to quickly establish Banks Homes as a leading operator in the Yorkshire housebuilding market.”
“The new division will work independently, but alongside, the existing operations of Banks Property, which will continue to work with our landowner, agent and developer partners to identify, promote and sell land for the development of new homes by many of the UK’s best-known housebuilders.”
Gerry Loftus, Honey
Sheffield based housebuilder Honey has announced the appointment of a former Avant Homes board member to the position of non-executive chairman as the company looks to commence delivery of its first development.
Gerry Loftus has more than 25 years’ experience as a senior corporate finance partner with PwC and Deloitte and holds non-executive positions with several businesses. He served on Avant Homes’ board for a period of six years before the company was sold to its current owners in April 2021.
Gerry commented: “Mark has a clear vision for Honey based on delivering an excellent product for homebuyers that combines style, substance and sustainability. He is a highly capable operator, and I am enjoying working with him again to help firmly establish Honey as a recognised and respected housebuilding brand.”
Honey chief executive officer, Mark Mitchell, added: “I have a huge amount of respect for Gerry having experienced at first hand the wise counsel and strategic direction he provides.
“His appointment is a key element of our controlled growth strategy, and will further enable us to quickly establish Honey within the residential development sector in the north and midlands.”
Kieran Harris and Joshua Madsen-Jensen, Aberfield Communications
Leeds based PR and brand communications agency Aberfield Communications is continuing its growth with the appointment of Kieran Harris as PR consultant and Joshua Madsen-Jensen as a PR intern.
Kieran joins the award-winning agency with two-years of PR experience working on some of the world’s largest gaming and tech brands such as NVIDIA, ASUS, and Frontier Developments.
Prior to transitioning to PR, Kieran worked as the Senior Editor for Gamereactor, the Nordic region’s leading online gaming magazine, where he was responsible for managing and planning the content output for the UK version of the website.
Joshua joins Aberfield as a PR Intern and will support the team alongside studying for an MA in International Marketing and Design Management at the University of Leeds. Joshua’s recent appointment demonstrates Aberfield’s commitment to nurturing and developing emerging talent in the PR industry.
Kieran commented: “Aberfield has a rich portfolio of clients across a variety of sectors such as travel, food and drink, property and finance, and I’m looking forward to further diversifying my skillset whilst helping to support and develop the communications strategies of our clients and delivering impactful results.”
Tim Downs, director of Aberfield, added: “We’re creating the right structure for future growth and bringing Kieran and Joshua on board is a key part of our continued development. Kieran’s experience in tech and gaming is a valuable additional skillset for us and marries well with the thriving digital sector in Yorkshire.”
