Mincoffs advises on sale of Qadex to global software firm
A Midlands-based food supply chain specialist has been acquired by a global leader in software management solutions, thanks to legal support from Newcastle-based Mincoffs Solicitors.
Food safety software platform Qadex, which is involved in every aspect of the food safety process from quality checks to risk assessment, has joined the Ideagen portfolio of businesses.
Nottingham-based Ideagen provides software solutions to a wide range of industries, including aerospace and defence, finance, healthcare, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, food and drink, government and transport and logistics.
The business has grown substantially in recent years, with the acquisition of Qadex – which will now operate as Ideagen Qadex – marking its first deal of 2023.
The deal signifies a substantial expansion into its food quality and safety services, with both businesses boasting a number of big name brands among their customer bases.
Stephen Whyte, founder of Qadex, said: “The Mincoffs team were highly flexible and responsive to deliver a complex transaction over a very tight timescale.
“The rapport which Luke developed with the buy side partner meant that matters were quickly resolved using a perfectly tuned balance of commerciality and legal rigour.
“Having Luke’s support throughout the most complex and stressful transaction I have ever worked on, including cutting into his time outside of work, was amazing and I would unreservedly recommend Luke and the Mincoffs team.”
Luke Philpott, corporate partner at Mincoffs Solicitors led on the transaction and was delighted to advise Stephen Whyte on the sale of Qadex to Ideagen.
“The Qadex team are truly experts at what they do which is evidenced by the impact the business has in the food supply chain sector,” he said.
“Joining the Ideagen portfolio is an excellent move for the company and has created some really exciting opportunities to expand their reach across a global market.
“It was a pleasure to deliver a smooth exit for Stephen and the team and I look forward to watching the business continue to grow in the future.”
