Hampshire housebuilder announced as sponsor for South Coast’s leading sustainability event

Barratt Homes in Hampshire is reinforcing its sustainability pledge by sponsoring the Big Sustainability and Innovation Expo.

The leading housebuilder, which is bringing new homes to the county, is committed to protecting the environment, and is keen to show its support for one of the UK’s top sustainability Expos based in Southampton.

The Big Sustainability Expo will take place on 3rd October at the Ageas Bowl and is one of the UK’s most comprehensive events dedicated to environmental management and the drive to net-zero. Now in its 8th year, and organised by the Southern Sustainability Partnership, it will bring together sustainable experts, products, technologies, and services that can help businesses make eco-conscious decisions.

Sustainability has never been higher on the corporate agenda, as organisations wake up to their environmental responsibility and what it means for their future. Barratt Homes is leading the industry in its approach to sustainability, and Oliver Novakovic, Barratt Homes’ Technical and Innovation Director, will be speaking at the Big Sustainability Expo.

He said: “As part of my work, I’ve been advising Central Government and the Home Builders Federation (HBF) on how to develop a successful roadmap to deliver zero carbon solutions, and I’m currently leading a team at Barratt that is assessing how different zero carbon systems can support our journey to net-zero.

“I’m thrilled to be speaking at this event which is supporting businesses with their sustainability pledges. This is an exciting opportunity for professionals across the country to gather and exchange ideas on how they can head towards a more sustainable future.”

The developer has maintained its position as the ‘Leading National Sustainable Housebuilder’ in the influential NextGeneration sustainability awards, receiving the “Gold Award” for the seventh consecutive year, as well as the “Crystal Award”, for Transparency, for a third year. It was also recently the top housebuilder, and scored an A rating, in the leading global sustainability benchmark CDP.

Lynda Daniels from the Southern Sustainability Partnership, organisers of the Big Sustainability Expo, said: “We were set up to help facilitate best practice for businesses, right across the UK, looking to introduce better processes and make more environmentally friendly choices. The Southern Sustainability Expo shares some of those best practices through a range of exhibitors, speakers, and workshops – and this year promises to be yet another jam-packed schedule!

“Having support of a company like Barratt Homes allows us to continue to run important events like these and help spread the word about the importance of a few changes that can make a big difference to sustainability.”

With more than 100 different exhibition stands, a fantastic speaker line-up, education workshops, and much more, the Big Sustainability Expo attracts visitors from across the UK.
