Digital healthcare provider first to launch “pioneering” AI and Chat GPT technology

London based digital-first home healthcare company Cera is “leading the charge” by introducing AI and GPT technology which aims to alleviate NHS pressures by increasing patient onboarding capacity at a time when it is needed the most.

Invested in becoming technology pioneers in home healthcare, Cera is the first home healthcare company in the UK and Europe to introduce new products which utilise generative AI.

By leveraging this “innovative” technology Cera aims to cut down the time spent on paperwork for social care workers by 25 per cent per person, a meaningful difference given Cera provides care across a population of 20 million.

Dr Ben Maruthappu, CEO and co-founder of Cera, commented: “Generative AI and ChatGPT is advanced revolutionary technology that can help transform every sector. At Cera we are leaning into this technology to better empower our staff.

“By drastically reducing paperwork, this will allow our carers and nurses to focus on delivering higher quality care while making the sector more sustainable. It doesn’t have to stop at care in the home either, I truly believe that this could revolutionise the NHS too, to help tackle burnout in junior doctors and transform healthcare as we know it.”

Using a combination of AI and GPT technology, Cera staff will be able to utilise this innovation to help transcribe conversations which have taken place with patients during at-home appointments and convert them into care plans, a process which usually takes staff up to 10 to 12 hours for a traditional social care provider.

Once the care plan information is processed using an AI trained model, personalised tasks will be created for carers to define an outcome based program, enabling carers to learn about the patients conditions.

At a time when over 13,000 NHS hospital beds are occupied by patients fit to be discharged into social care, Cera predicts that the new technology will double the number of patients they are able to onboard each day, supporting Local Authorities and the NHS to discharge patients from hospitals to home at a faster rate.
