Dorset MP breaks ground at housebuilder’s new Gillingham development
The MP for North Dorset, Simon Hoare, was guest of honour at the site of a new David Wilson Homes development in Gillingham earlier in the month, as he put the first spade in the ground to mark the start of construction.
Mr Hoare visited the leading housebuilder’s latest development, Roman’s Quarter, on Thursday 4th May to hear about the new collection of 80 homes coming to the region.
Introduced to the new site by David Wilson Homes Managing Director, James Dunne, and Sales Director, Tammy Bishop, the local MP was delighted to have the privilege of breaking ground in the popular Dorset location.
He said: “It’s great to hear about this brand-new community coming to Gillingham. The new site is in a wonderful location, and the range of properties being built here will help meet the mix of housing needs for north Dorset.
“To be invited to put the first spade in the ground has been a real honour, and I’m looking for-ward to seeing things progress in the coming weeks and months.”
Once complete, Roman’s Quarter will feature a mix of two, three and four-bedroom properties, including 20 affordable homes on Common Mead Lane.
Tammy Bishop, Sales Director for David Wilson Homes, Southampton Division, said: “We are thrilled to be starting work at this new development after receiving a majority in favour vote by the Dorset Planning Committee.
“Not only will Roman’s Quarter be delivering 80 new homes to the county, but it will also be offering new public open space rich in biodiversity, and we’ll be working with local schools to provide new educational opportunities. Thanks go to Mr Hoare for coming along today and of-ficially marking the start of construction at this brand-new site.”
