Business accelerator opens it latest Unrest North programme
Unrest, the ‘UK’s leading consumer-facing’ business accelerator, has opened applications for the third season of its Unrest North programme which is due to start in September.
The 16 week programme, which will be delivered in Sheffield from September onwards, provides focused support to founders at early-stage purposeful, consumer driven businesses to help them grow and scale faster than they could alone.
Unrest will run the northern programme in tandem with its London programme, with crossover events. At the end of the programme, the Unrest North cohort will be invited to London to pitch alongside their London counterparts at an investor-filled Demo Day.
Entrepreneurs from across the North and Midlands are invited to apply to the programme with applications closing on 21st July 2023.
Ken Nettleship, head of Unrest North, said: “We’re thrilled to open up applications for our next cohort. So far we’ve supported 47 start ups across both London and Sheffield and have seen our alumni raise over £7m in investment so far.
“Our programme offers targeted support to start-up founders and helps them understand how to raise investment, provides an opportunity to build their brand with an award winning design studio, be part of a strong founder community and ultimately understand their impact in the world.
“We’ve been blown away by the quality, energy and drive that the founders in our first two northern cohorts have had. Being part of their start-up journey has been a privilege and we can’t wait to see what comes next for them.
“We’re committed to supporting entrepreneurs across the north and looking for ways we can champion diversity of thought, background, and geography- to support more businesses that better reflect the makeup of our communities.”
Startups that have been supported through the Unrest North programme include MediWallets, Ede, Swotly, SportiStars, Labre’s Hope, Future Greens, Hero of Health, Ourgen, Teleport and Mycelium.
Tom Carpenter, founder of Mycelium, an Open-source Emissions Network, who were in the first Unrest North cohort said: “The Unrest programme has been a pivotal step in the growth of our business.
“We learned so much on the programme from understanding the impact of our business through learning how to become investment ready. Being part of the Unrest tribe was also a great benefit to us - being able to learn from a community of like-minded people was pretty cool”.
