Security officer takes on 24-hour challenge for soldiers’ charity

A father and son from Flint in north Wales are teaming up to raise money for a soldiers’ charity - by doing a difficult and challenging 54-mile walk in the foothills of Scotland’s famous Cairngorm Mountains that needs to be completed in just 24 hours.

Harrison Roberts, 21, and his dad, Darryl, 44, plan to take part in this year’s Cateran Yomp for the ABF Soldiers’ Charity on June 3-4 and raise hundreds of pounds. The Yomp is based on an infamous long-distance military training march and is not for the faint hearted.

Harrison, who works as a Retail Security Officer for Kingdom Security, says: “It’s my first time doing something this big. The most I’ve ever done is 20 miles. I’m looking forward to it, but I think it’s going to be difficult and challenging.”

Harrison says he wanted to do it for the ABF Soldiers’ Charity because he had friends serving in the military.

Darryl adds: “When I heard Harrison was doing it, I thought I’ve got to get involved. I am quite active, but this is still going to be a big challenge.”

Managing Director of Kingdom Security, Graham Allison, says: “Harrison is a fantastic member of our security team in Wales, and we are very pleased to support his efforts in fundraising for such a worthwhile and important cause.

“We are being kept up to date with his training and are looking forward to him completing this walk in June.”
