ELEVATE SECURES PERMISSION FOR NEW HOMES ON FORMER BUILDER’S YARD SITE

New family townhouses are set to be developed in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter after Elevate Property Group secured planning permission to transform a redundant site in the city centre.

The site at the former Sapcote Yard, in Camden Street, is the latest Birmingham regeneration project from Elevate, which recently completed the prestigious Heaton House development nearby.

Birmingham City Council has granted permission for the renovation of a vacant office building to include the development of a new second floor and several new build houses on the former builder’s yard.

Once transformed, Sapcote Yard will feature 11 three-bedroom family townhouses as well as two two-bedroom duplex apartments with parking.

Planners said the larger properties being built on the 0.25 acre site, which includes part of a former builders’ merchant yard, would be a “welcome addition” to the area.

Elevate Land Director Sam Meeten said: “We’re really pleased to have secured permission for this redundant site which city planners acknowledged would help to redress the shortfall in family-sized accommodation in the city centre.

“It has taken significant work and patience to get this permission over the line and I’m especially grateful to the architects, planning and acoustic consultants for their hard work and tenacity.

“This development will greatly improve the appearance of what planners said was a ‘dilapidated’ existing building, adding value to the heritage of the immediate area within this historic part of Birmingham.”

Ian Saunders of Birmingham-based architects D5 worked as lead architect along with the wider team of John Jowitt of PJ Planning Consultants and Anthony Harper, of Sandy Brown acoustic consultants.

Sam added: “Demand for property in this area of Birmingham has been rising, which is reflected by the success of our Camden Street development. Heaton House has seen significant interest from first time buyers and investors alike, with townhouses proving to be particularly popular.

“As with all our redevelopments, Elevate’s signature attention to detail, design and heritage at Sapcote Yard is reflective of local history and architecture while bringing 21st century standards of quality and luxury.”
