Bellway to deliver “significant number” of new homes in popular Newcastle location

Construction has started and homes are now on sale within a new phase of Bellway’s Abbey Heights development, which is delivering hundreds of new homes on the western edge of Newcastle.

Bellway has outline permission for up to 900 new homes at Lower Callerton, off North Walbottle Road, where work started in 2019. Detailed approval is now in place for 513 of these homes across six of the eight land parcels within the 178-acre scheme.

The first phase of Abbey Heights, comprising 137 new homes in the southern part of the new neighbourhood, is now nearing completion and work is starting on a second phase of 56 homes to meet the demand for housing in the area.

The new phase will include a mix of 45 three, four and five-bedroom houses for private sale alongside 11 two and three-bedroom affordable houses available for local people. Bellway is also building 85 four and five-bedroom homes for sale at The View at Abbey Heights within the wider scheme.

Emma Chesterton, sales director of Bellway North East, commented: “Bellway is bringing a significant number of homes to this part of Newcastle to meet the local housing need and we are pleased to have started work on this new phase of construction at Abbey Heights.

“With homes having just become available to buy here it is the perfect time for house-hunters to come and find out more. At this stage of a development there is more choice in terms of plot, location and house style, as well as the option to make choices about the interior finish.

“This second phase at Abbey Heights includes some larger house designs for sale that were not available in the previous phase, so it is well worth taking a look at the range of homes on offer here. It may be that people who are seeking a bit more space will find exactly what they want.

“Phase one has proved popular and the location is in a great spot with good transport links. The development is within easy reach of the A69 and A1 and is only six miles from Newcastle city centre and Newcastle International Airport.”
