“Stunning” new five-star luxury getaway opens in Nottingham City Centre

New luxury private getaway, Castle House, has opened in Nottingham city centre’s historic Castle Quarter, offering a “stunning” period townhouse to stay in.

The six-bedroomed property has been awarded the VisitEngland 5 Star Gold Award, and is now open for bookings. Complete with hot tub and a rooftop terrace, it sleeps a maximum of 12 people, and offers the “perfect private escape from the city’s hustle and bustle”.

Behind its “iconic” brown doors, guests will find “charming” original features, and interiors that are designed for both staycations and corporate away-days. Constructed in 1931 to the designs of the prominent architect Thomas Cecil Howitt, the property has been a “key landmark” of Nottingham’s highly-sought after Park area for decades.

The building has had many lives over the years, including an accountants firm, confectionary shop and law firm, before being purchased by East Midlands property developers Andy and Hannah Hunt.

Situated on the corner between Friar Lane and Castle Place, and directly opposite the world-famous Nottingham Castle and Robin Hood statue, Castle House “combines history and luxury” for both Nottingham natives and tourists to enjoy.

Owner Hannah Hunt commented: “Castle House is an incredibly unique space in Nottingham that holds a special place in Nottingham’s Castle Conservation Area. As such, we really wanted to make sure we honoured the history of the property by keeping as many of the original features of the townhouse as we can.

“The result is something a little different from your usual luxury accommodation - something guests will talk about long after leaving.”

In celebration of the city’s history, all bedrooms have been named after famous people of Nottingham, including William Booth, the founder of the Salvation Army, and computer pioneer Ada Lovelace. Key features of the property also include a separate double-step in bath, a private bar, a dining room and an “opulent” drawing room.

Hannah added: “We wanted to create a space that was an ideal destination for tourists and holidaymakers looking for a city break, a private party space for those looking to celebrate special occasions, or a great location for businesses looking to host private corporate events in a central spot in the city.

“The legendary Nottingham Castle is just a few steps away, and there are a range of attractions, bars, and restaurants nearby too, which makes Castle House the perfect base to celebrate all Nottingham has to offer.”
