Bar and restaurant operator creates over 200 new jobs with £8m West London venue
Mission Mars, the award-winning, multi-concept operator known for delivering “world-class” food, drink, entertainment and hospitality experiences, has announced that London will be the next home for its Alpine Cook Haus and Bavarian Bier Palace, Albert’s Schloss, setting its sights on a Spring 2024 grand opening.
Giving the Jungle Cave site, formerly Rainforest Café, a bohemian makeover, the Shaftesbury Avenue venue will be the fourth Albert’s Schloss in the UK, plus the first for the South of England.
Albert’s Schloss venues currently operate in Manchester, in the ground floor space of the “historic and iconic” Albert Hall, Birmingham, and most recently Liverpool, which has had a record-breaking opening trading period since its December 2022 launch.
Roy Ellis, CEO of Mission Mars, commented: “It’s a stunning 18,000 square foot space in the famous Trocadero in the heart of the West End. The Trocadero has a long and rich history of hosting world renowned restaurants, bars and theatres.”
“We’ve designed a beautiful space that pays homage to all these facets including over 500 covers for Cook Haus dining, four bars measuring over 45 metres in length, and a stage to catch our unmissable live bands, cabaret and gospel choirs, who make up part of an impressive showtime lineup.
“On the ground floor, we will offer a taste of our in-Haus bakery, plus tankards of Europe’s finest biers and Pilsners, as well as our Artisan Schnapps experiences. The lower ground will host Albert’s Schloss with its focus on Seven Days of Showtime in beautiful Bavarian Bier Palace surroundings.
“Ludwig’s Tavern, our Alpine inspired chalet, is a tribute to “Mad King Ludwig” of Bavaria and is filled with whimsical design elements as well as roaring fires, shuffleboard and other tavern games. As in other cities, Schloss will recruit the best artistic talent available and offer totally unique and unlike anywhere else entertainment seven days a week.”
Thomas Rose, co-founder of P-THREE, who are leasing the site to Mission Mars, added: “By making their London debut with Criterion Capital on Shaftesbury Avenue, Albert’s Schloss highlight the strength and appeal of the West End, which continues to attract and deliver the very best of leisure and F&B.”
Close to Piccadilly Circus, the new London venue will create 200 jobs across the board once it opens in Spring 2024, including managers, chefs, bartenders, servers and hosts. The entertainment venue will also be a new home to over 100 freelance artists, with headline events including the Kunst Kabaret, Baby Grand Slam and Friday Frolich.
