Award-winning Sunderland street food restaurant My Delhi celebrates milestone

My Delhi, the esteemed Indian street food restaurant located in Sunderland, has announced its one-year anniversary since opening its doors on June 7 2022.

The popular venue has described the past 12 months as an “incredible year filled with exceptional culinary experiences, joyful celebrations, and numerous accolades”.

Since its inception, My Delhi has been dedicated to providing the people of Sunderland with a unique dining experience, offering authentic Indian street food that “transports diners to the vibrant streets of Delhi”. The restaurant has also hosted a multitude of events, including large parties, private gatherings, birthdays, and baby showers.

One of the highlights of My Delhi’s success has been the popularity of its cocktails and mocktails, which intend to “perfectly complement” the flavourful Indian street food offerings.

Setting itself apart from the traditional British Curry house, My Delhi has consistently delivered an “authentic” taste of India to its customers, providing not just a meal but an “immersive journey”. The restaurant has become a destination for those seeking to explore the “rich and diverse” culinary landscape of Delhi in Sunderland.

The past year has brought incredible recognition to My Delhi. The restaurant was honoured with the prestigious “Best Street Food Restaurant of the Year” award at the Nation’s Curry Awards, a testament to the “exceptional quality and authenticity” of its offerings.

Additionally, My Delhi received the esteemed “Best Takeaway in the North East” award at the Just Eat Restaurant Awards, further solidifying its reputation as a top-tier dining establishment.

A spokesperson said on behalf of the restaurant: “The team extends its heartfelt gratitude to its valued diners for their warm welcome and unwavering support. The restaurant is committed to continuing its mission of bringing the best of Indian street food, delectable beverages, and inviting ambience to Sunderland for many years to come.”

To commemorate this momentous occasion, My Delhi has planned a special charity dinner in aid of Children’s Heart Unit Fund, its chosen charity partner. The event is themed around the first days of the British Raj and guests can enjoy a “sumptuous” dinner.
