Birmingham Tech Partners with Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce to Uplift Women in Tech

Birmingham Tech, the organisation at the heart of the West Midlands’ technology ecosystem, has partnered with the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce to offer tailored support to women working in the sector. Through this new partnership, 10 women will receive a Future Faces membership and get access to a range of events, business support, and profile-raising opportunities.

Successful individuals will have full access to a myriad of benefits that come with a Future Faces membership, including monthly personal development and social networking events with some of the best in the business, the opportunity to be mentored by a more experienced Chamber member or to become a mentor themselves, profile opportunities with the Future Faces Committee, and annual awards to recognise the talent the region has to offer.

In addition to Future Faces’ own benefits, recipients of this membership will also have exclusive access to Birmingham Tech events, mentors and potential investors with key industry knowledge, tailored tech industry support and resources, and direct access to the Birmingham Tech team for one-to-one advice.

The partnership aims to support and uplift more women in business, particularly in the tech industry. By pooling their resources and collaborating on this shared goal, Birmingham Tech and the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce hope to maximise the impact they can have on the sector and helping the region reach its ambition of becoming a global tech hub.

Women remain underrepresented and under-funded when compared to their male counterparts in tech, so we’re proud to partner with Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce to deliver tailored support and advice that’s really going to improve access and opportunities for women who want to thrive in the tech sector.”

The largest young professional network in the West Midlands, Future Faces exists to network, develop, and recognise young professionals across all sectors. Patrons of the organisation include Deutsche Bank, Gymshark, Mills & Reeves, Midland Air Ambulance and Aston University.

Henrietta Brealey, CEO of the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce, discusses her thoughts on the partnership:

*“The West Midlands remains the UK’s fastest growing tech sector, with £2.7 billion forecast to be added to the tech economy by 2025 alone. We want to encourage as many people as possible to believe that they can be a part of the region’s technological advancement. As of 2023, just over a quarter of technology roles were held by women; we believe that striving for equality and inclusion is key to boosting the tech industry and hope that this partnership will do exactly that.
