Barratt Homes proud backers of Swanage Fairy Festival

Dorset housebuilder, Barratt Homes, donated £1,500 to a fun family festival in Swanage that was organised and run by one of its residents.

The Swanage Fairy Festival, a magical week-long event jam-packed with family fun, took place over three days in half term from 1st – 3rd June and included a spellbinding fairy show, mesmerising mermaids and a spectacular Frozen singalong.

Claudine Andrew, who lives at Barratt Homes’ Compass Point development in the town, started the event as a lockdown project – and it’s gone from strength to strength. “I moved to Compass Point a few years ago and I love it” she said.

“But, even though there’s loads to do in Swanage for adults – there’s not much in the way of entertainment for the kids – and that’s where the idea came from, to start a festival that was fun for all!”

The festival welcomes more than 3,000 visitors over the three days, attending many events from magic shows and bubble discos, to circus workshops and superhero gameshows.

Claudine continued: “When I had the idea of starting the festival, I was so surprised at how well was received locally. I’d like to thank all the sponsors that helped fund the event, including Barratt Homes who kindly gifted us £1,500.

“Events like these are so important to our community and it’s thanks to support from organisations like Barratt that they can continue – we hope next year will be bigger and better than before!”

Committed to supporting local and community projects, Barratt Homes loved the idea of the Fairy Festival from the start.

Anthony Dimmick, Barratt Homes Community Liaison Officer, said: “Claudine has done brilliantly in making this event a success and it’s our pleasure to be able to offer her a donation.

“We’ve no doubt Claudine will continue to make the Swanage Fairy Festival a success and we look forward to seeing what next year’s event has in store.”
