Cairn Hotel Group launches comprehensive sustainability commitment
Cairn Hotel Group, a leading hospitality company, is announcing a greater commitment to sustainable business on World Environment Day (June 5th).
The group aims to make significant strides in reducing its environmental impact across all operations. The initiative will encompass various measures, including energy reduction, adoption of renewable and sustainable products, waste management and travel initiatives, plus community engagement, and support for small and local businesses.
Cairn Hotel Group recognises the urgent need to address environmental challenges and is committed to taking proactive steps to minimise its carbon footprint. By implementing energy-efficient measures and leveraging renewable sources, the group will strive to reduce its overall energy usage. This initiative will not only help preserve the environment but also contribute to significant cost savings.
It is committed to adopting renewable and sustainable products throughout its businesses. By sourcing eco-friendly materials and products, the group aims to create a more sustainable supply chain and promote the use of environmentally responsible alternatives.
In an effort to manage waste sustainably, Cairn Hotel Group will implement new waste management programmes. These initiatives will focus on reducing waste generation, increasing recycling rates, and minimising the environmental impact of waste disposal.
As part of its sustainability commitment Sustainability Champions will be appointed across its businesses. These dedicated individuals will spearhead sustainability initiatives, implementing the programs within each venue, promote environmental awareness among employees, and drive sustainable practices throughout the organisation.
Recognising the importance of low carbon travel, Cairn Hotel Group will launch and further support various initiatives to encourage greener transportation methods. This will include promotion of current car share schemes, cycle to work programmes, further investment in electric vehicles (EVs), and the continuing installation of EV charging points. By providing sustainable travel alternatives, the group aims to reduce carbon emissions and contribute to a cleaner and healthier environment.
Cairn Hotel Group understands the significance of community sustainability and will support small and local businesses through its supply chain, fostering economic growth and creating opportunities for sustainable development.
In addition to the group-wide sustainability commitments, Cairn Hotel Group is developing the Stay Your Way programme, due for launch in Q4 2023. This unique program is designed to provide guests with a personalised and sustainable stay experience. Guests will have the option to skip daily room cleaning, opt-out of towel and linen replenishment, and enjoy eco-friendly toiletries and reusable water bottles. The programme also welcomes guest feedback on sustainability initiatives and is designed to make guests part of the ‘green’ journey. By empowering guests to make sustainable choices, Cairn Hotel Group aims to create a more environmentally conscious hospitality experience.
Tina Ohara, commercial director at Cairn Hotel Group said: “We are thrilled to launch our comprehensive sustainability commitment on World Environment Day. By integrating sustainable practices into our operations, we aim to lead the way in the hospitality and care industries. We believe that environmental stewardship is a shared responsibility, and through our collective efforts, we can make a positive impact on the planet.”
Cairn Hotel Group’s sustainability commitment is a testament to its dedication to environmental responsibility. By taking bold steps to reduce energy usage, adopt renewable products and waste management practices, encourage environmentally-friendly travel and support local businesses and communities, the group is making a significant contribution towards a more sustainable future.
