Hampshire developer scoops two finalist places in First Time Buyer awards
Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ Southampton division is on a winning streak as it announces more finalist places for a highly-coveted award.
The First Time Buyer Readers’ Awards 2023 celebrate ways in which the industry has gone above and beyond to help aspirational buyers take their first step on the housing ladder.
The leading Hampshire housebuilder has been selected as finalist in the Best Large Development category for its Harbour Place development in Bedhampton, which has recently secured a win for Best Residential Development at the South Coast Property Awards, for demonstrating contributions to the local economy and the community, and its overall reduced impact on the environment.
Harbour Place enhances and supports the environment while allowing its residents to live in harmony with nature. With more than 30.5 acres of green space, the beautiful development is home to 31,000 bee-friendly planted shrubs and trees, 15,682 new sapling hedgerows, 9 acres of wildflower meadows and 6 biodiversity areas with ponds.
Barratt has also secured a finalist place in the Best Partnership for its work with Dorset Council in helping Dorset residents priced out of the local housing market by offering discounted homes to anyone with a connection to the county – an attractive deal for first time buyers downsizers or growing families.
Barratt and David Wilson Homes Managing Director, James Dunne, said: “We’re still basking in the afterglow of a recent win for our Harbour Place development, so to follow up with two more finalist places is such a great achievement.
“At Barratt and David Wilson Homes, our focus remains on providing high-quality, energy efficient, sustainable homes and developments that are also affordable. Our partnership with Dorset council is testament to that pledge and since its launch in January 2023, the scheme has provided the largest number of discounted homes Dorset has ever had on one site.
“These awards mean a great deal to us and we’re looking forward to the award ceremony in September.”
Winners of the First Time Buyer Readers’ Awards will be announced at a special ceremony on Friday 1st September in London.
Barratt and David Wilson Homes have 11 active developments across Hampshire, Dorset, West Sussex, and the Isle of Wight. Making a significant economic and social impact in the region, the developer has invested £46 million locally, more than £300,000 of which has gone to local charities, and employees also dedicated 520 hours of volunteering to charities and local initiatives.
