Nicola Hunter, Natalie Clayton, Faye Chadwick, Ben Palmer, Olivia Williams and Jordan Grimbley: Ison Harrison

Yorkshire law firm Ison Harrison has made six promotions across its network of Yorkshire offices. Nicola Hunter, Natalie Clayton, Faye Chadwick, Ben Palmer, Olivia Williams and Jordan Grimbley have all been promoted to partners at the firm.

Nicola Hunter joined the firm as an experienced family solicitor in August 2018. Having previously worked at the firm’s Otley and Guiseley branches, Nicola will take on the responsibility of running and building up Ison Harrison’s private family offering across East Leeds based at the Crossgates office.

Natalie Clayton joined Ison Harrison nine years ago as an apprentice in the firm’s cashiers team and by mid-2022 had risen through the ranks to become assistant head of the firm’s biggest team, the new build division. Natalie is based at Ison Harrison’s head office in Leeds City Centre.

New build property specialist Faye Chadwick joined the new build team as an experienced conveyancing solicitor in August 2019 and has been manager of the Wakefield branch since it opened last year.

Corporate employment solicitor Ben Palmer is based at Ison Harrison’s Leeds City Centre office. He joined Ison Harrison’s expanding regional team in 2021 and has over 16 years of employment expertise.

Olivia Williams joined as a new build conveyancing assistant in 2016, was quickly promoted to fee-earner and secured a training contract in September 2018. Olivia has been successfully managing the firm’s York office helping to establish the firm’s presence in North Yorkshire.

Jordan Grimbley joined the new build team in 2017 as a conveyancing assistant and became a fee-earner before starting his training contract in 2018. Originally intending to become a commercial litigator, Jordan adapted his skills toward wills and probate law.

Gavin Birch, Barratt Developments Yorkshire West

Barratt Developments Yorkshire West has welcomed a new managing director, the company has announced. Gavin Birch joins the board following Ian Ruthven’s retirement, who has served 18 years at the company. The managing director is responsible for overseeing all the departments including Land, Technical, Commercial, Financial and Sales.

Gavin has 31 years experience in the construction industry, having started his career as an Apprentice Quantity Surveyor in 1992 at Barratt Developments Yorkshire East division in York.

Working under the then Technical Director, Steven Boyes, who is now the group chief operating officer and deputy chief executive, Gavin progressed through the ranks as assistant quantity surveyor, chief quantity surveyor, technical manager and then commercial manager before being made Technical Director in 2006.

In 2021, Gavin became operations director at Barratt Developments’ Yorkshire West division based in Morley, working closely alongside Ian Ruthven.

Gavin Birch commented: “I’m thrilled to take on the role as Managing Director at Barratt Developments Yorkshire West. Having already worked for the Homebuilder for 31 years, I’m excited to step into this hugely rewarding role to lead the extremely talented Board of Directors.

“It’s a privilege to work for the nation’s leading Homebuilder and I’m keen to help shape long term strategies and deliver quality housing to customers and support communities in the region.”

Elliot Squire and Harvey Garrett, AspinallVerdi

Independent nationwide property regeneration consultants AspinallVerdi continue to expand with two key appointments. Elliot Squire and Harvey Garrett join the growing firm as consultants at its head office at The Calls, Leeds to serve clients in the public and private sectors throughout Yorkshire and further afield.

Elliot has a (BSc) Hons degree in planning and development from Nottingham Trent University and following a placement year with Igloo Regeneration in Nottingham spent more than three years at real estate developer Citu in Leeds. He is currently studying for his Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors Assessment of Professional Competence (RICS APC).

Harvey, whose father, sister and brother-in-law are all property surveyors, achieved a (BSc) Hons degree in real estate and property management at Leeds Beckett University and having joined AspinallVerdi, is also studying for his RICS APC.

The headquarters of AspinallVerdi in Leeds serves clients in the public and private sectors including Homes England, Moda Living, Urbo Regeneration, Together Housing Association and Bradford Council.
