Barratt Homes names TWO new Southampton charity partners for 2023
Barratt Homes’ Southampton Division has revealed that in 2023, it will be raising money for not just one, but TWO ‘Charities of the Year’.
The leading housebuilder, which is bringing new homes to the region, has named Mountbatten Hampshire and No Limits as its official charities, and will be arranging multiple fundraising initiatives in their honour.
Each year, the Hedge End-based five-star housebuilder chooses a new charity of the year, which is nominated and then voted for by staff.
This year, Barratt chose to split their fundraising efforts between two charities. These are hospice charity Mountbatten Hampshire which offers 24/7 inpatient and community domiciliary, and palliative end-of-life care services to local people, and No Limits an independent charity in Southampton that supports vulnerable children and young people by providing free information, advice, counselling, and advocacy services.
The two charities take over the baton from the housebuilder’s previous charity of the year, Saints Foundation, which has been partnered with Barratt for the last three years to help see it through the pandemic.
Barratt Homes’ Charity Committee Chair, said: “Barratt is committed to supporting worthwhile organisations in the communities where it is building, and both Mountbatten Hampshire and No Limits are doing great things for people who need it in the local area.
“We are thrilled to be devoting our time this year to both these important organisations, and I know our dedicated teams will be doing everything they can to raise as much money as possible.”
Both named charities said they are extremely grateful.
Michelle Wheeler, Mountbatten Hampshire Corporate Fundraiser, said: “To hear that we have been named one of Barratt’s official charities for 2023, is wonderful news. This kind of generosity means we can continue to provide our care for free to people living across Southampton and Hampshire.”
Kat Hutchings, Fundraising Officer at No Limits, said: “Barratt Homes has provided some generous support to No Limits over the past few years, and we are really excited to be named as one of its ‘Charities of the Year’. With this fantastic support, we can continue to help manage the lives of young people across Hampshire. A huge thank you from everyone here.”
Mountbatten Hampshire is the county’s oldest and largest hospice and has been serving the community for more than 45 years. Anyone living in Southampton and Hampshire with a life-limiting illness can benefit from its care and services. It also provides free support to the families and friends of those who have been bereaved.
Barratt will be welcomed by the Mountbatten charity at its Corporate thank you evening this month which officially recognises its partners and shares plans and ambitions for the charity’s future.
No Limits was set up in 1993, when it was realised that young people needed somewhere to go for information, advice and counselling. The charity employs 120 staff and has support from a further 100 students and volunteer workers.
Barratt Homes is committed to supporting the charities and organisations which improve the quality of life for those living in the region.
