Multiple strategic hires for growing healthtech firm

Healthtech firm Mizaic — the pioneer behind the NHS-renowned electronic document management system (EDMS), MediViewer — has announced a series of strategic appointments as the digital transformation specialist secures more work with Trusts nationwide.

With 18 complex patient record digitisation projects under its belt, Mizaic hit the headlines in April, when the senior leadership team rebranded the business — formerly known as IMMJ Systems — and revealed a further £1.8m investment from Foresight.

And signs of ongoing progression are already underway, with the announcement of six key hires and counting.

Newly-appointed service delivery and support manager Catriona McGill joins the company with 10 years’ experience in customer-facing roles, having begun her career as a support engineer until most recently working as senior service delivery manager at UKCloud.

Now playing a pivotal part in Mizaic’s customer satisfaction and retention, Catriona is passionate about driving positive change within a growing firm.She has quickly made her mark, having spearheaded the launch of a new service portal, as part of a series of continuous improvements to further refine customer satisfaction.

Mizaic’s already-established tech team has also been further bolstered with the addition of software development lead, Paul Hadfield. With an extensive IT career spanning almost three decades, Paul has a multifaceted role, covering everything from Mizaic’s architecture resilience, to the ongoing evolution of MediViewer’s user interface, functionality advancements, and the optimisation of colleagues’ agility.

With a wealth of healthcare experience, Su Jones also joins Mizaic as product owner, while long-standing colleague Rob Ainsworth has moved into the freshly-created position of head of product architecture, and Riff Emmanuel has been promoted to SRE team lead.

Over in the commercial side of the organisation, business development manager Beth Cross has added further capacity to the busy sales team. Formerly a hospital sales manager for Proximie — a technology used to record and stream live surgery —she is now specifically responsible for exploring potential EDMS projects with Trusts in the North of the UK and Wales..

She is joined by Ross Wade, Mizaic’s new business development manager for London and the south of England. He has 25 years’ experience working with health and care technologies, having spent the first 17 of those implementing and supporting maternity clinical systems in both the public and private sectors.

In pre-sales, long-standing colleague Mike Seel — who moved to Mizaic in 2019 following almost a decade with Xerox — has progressed into the role of solutions lead, and technology specialist Jason Mitchell has joined his team as a solutions consultant, having formerly worked for Infosys, Odigo and SEDNA.

Commenting on this notable investment in people, Mizaic’s CEO Jon Pickering — who joined in September — said: “Our recent rebrand was about much more than a name change and logo refresh — it signified our commitment to supporting the ongoing transformation of the NHS, however difficult that may be. We’re drawing on decades of combined expertise — and passion — within our team, to help solve the many digitisation challenges that Trusts face.

“Because it doesn’t matter how proud we are of MediViewer or our future product roadmap. Our people are what bring our EDMS deployments to life. It’s our people who break down barriers and resistance to change, our people who help truly realise the economic benefits of EDMS implementations, and our people who leverage the real potential of digitised patient information.”

Now is the right time to invest in the growth of the team, believes Jon, as interest in EDMS technologies continues to rise.

“EDMS solutions like MediViewer are attracting more and more attention — and rightly so. But an EDMS deployment is about far more than a journey to paperless. It provides the key to unlocking data that will really supercharge the clinician : patient experience, and help the UK move gradually closer to better connected, more integrated care, and improved — if not life-changing — patient outcomes.”

Mizaic is soon to announce details of two new important NHS projects, with industry-first product roadmap milestones also due to be unveiled imminently.
