Newcastle International Airport adds new flights for “spectacular” destination
Thanks to strong demand, SunExpress, a joint venture of Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines, has added even more flights to Antalya, Turkey, from Newcastle International Airport for 2024.
SunExpress, which has been awarded “Best Leisure Airline in Europe” by Skytrax, began operating from Newcastle International Airport in March 2023 offering up to three flights per week to Antalya, Turkey.
Thanks to popular demand from the North East travelling public, SunExpress is now on sale for 2024, offering even more choice from the North East’s largest Airport with up to five flights per week, an increase of an additional two weekly flights when compared to 2023.
Located in the ‘Turkish Riviera’, Antalya’s turquoise coastline offers white-sand beaches, boutique shopping and stylish marinas. Home to popular beach resorts of Fethiye, Oludeniz and Belek, passengers can enjoy the famous Turkish hospitality thanks to the many bars and restaurants on offer.
Leon McQuaid, director of aviation development at Newcastle International Airport, commented: “Turkey continues to be one of our most popular destinations and has seen a sharp rise in demand thanks to its warm climate, spectacular beaches and hotels, and excellent hospitality.
“We are delighted to hear that SunExpress has been well received by the region and in such high demand that they have chosen to expand their schedule at Newcastle International Airport.
“Their investment not only extends the season to cover most of 2024, but provides passengers with even more choice when looking for package holidays or flight only deals.”
Peter Glade, commercial director at SunExpress, added: “We are delighted to announce the expansion of our capacity in Newcastle, showcasing our expertise in facilitating travel to Turkey. At SunExpress, we place great significance on connecting individuals to the enchanting wonders of this magnificent country.
“Thus, it is befitting that we unite Newcastle, an influential hub of economy and scientific advancements in England, with the delectable culinary experiences and vibrant cultural tapestry of Turkey.
“Through this harmonious partnership, we present travellers with an array of exciting prospects to uncover the hidden treasures strewn between the serene banks of the Tyne and the captivating Turkish Riviera.”
