Local coffee roaster celebrates success at Great Taste Awards 2023
Rounton Coffee Roasters based in North Yorkshire are celebrating another year of Great Taste Awards for the fourth year running.
Announced on 1 August, judges gave six Rounton Coffee products a Great Taste Award; gaining a total of nine prestigious stars this year.
The Great Taste Awards, also known as the Guild of Fine Food Awards, is an acknowledgment of product quality, judged through blind tasting by product experts. Picking up two stars was their Sparkling Water Decaf Coffee, Colombian Wilton Benitez – Pink Bourbon Coffee and Rwanda Rwamatamu - Nespresso Compatible Specialty Coffee Pods.
Judges complimented Rounton’s new coffee pod, commenting that it is “an impressive flavour level from a pod.”
David Beattie, founder of Rounton Coffee Roasters said: “We are proud to see Rwanda Rwamatamu from our new line of home compostable coffee pods receiving two stars and fantastic comments from the judges. We set out to create speciality coffee pods that replicate the same quality as our existing products and this award proves just that.”
Rounton’s Two Stories coffee, Daybreak Blend coffee and El Salvador – Apaneca coffee (formerly Cuzcachapa) all gained one star.
David Beattie continued: “It has been another year of great results for our specialty coffees. It is through our commitment to creating the finest coffees and our passion for fostering strong relationships with coffee growers worldwide that we have achieved this success.”
Rounton Coffee Roasters, launched in 2013, has become a household name supplying coffee to over 200 outlets across the UK, selling direct to customers and has coffee shops in Middlesbrough and Norton. Rounton works with farmers all over the world to source responsibly and work with producers and importers who are invested in the future of the coffee industry.
