Avant Homes acquires £43.6m Willington site to develop 200 new homes
Sunderland-based Avant Homes North East will start work this month on 200 new homes in Willington with a gross development value of £43.6m after acquiring a 21-acre site off Ash Drive in the town.
Called Westward Green, the development will feature 15 of Avant Homes’ new house types and comprise a mix of two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom homes. All values relating to the acquisition are undisclosed and Avant Homes will announce prices of Westward Green’s new homes in due course.
Every home at the development will be energy efficient and feature exclusive kitchen designs with integrated appliances and spacious gardens. The housebuilder will release the first homes for sale at Westward Green this month and anticipates that the buyers of the first homes will move in this December. A three-bedroom Leyburn show home is planned to be available for prospective buyers to view from October onwards.
In addition to providing new homes for the area, Avant Homes is also making a £730,000 contribution toward initiatives that will benefit the local community in terms of open space, education and healthcare.
Avant Homes North East managing director, Don Anderson, said: “Willington is great place for us to be able to deliver our hugely popular new range of aspirational homes for people living locally or looking to move to the area.
“This latest acquisition forms part of our ongoing expansion strategy within the North East. We are in advanced negotiations on a number of other land deals in the region which will see us grow our footprint even further.”
Avant Homes North East is part of the Avant Homes Group which currently has eight operating businesses located across the Midlands, north of England and Scotland.
At present, Avant Homes Group employs more than 600 people with ambition to grow further across its existing regions and beyond, creating communities and providing employment opportunities for many.
