North London luxury fabrics designer bolsters growth plans with new funding

Designers Guild, a “leader” in the design and wholesale industry for furnishing fabrics and wall coverings, has secured a facility with Independent Growth Finance (IGF) to fuel its growth objectives and bolster its market position.

With a remarkable history dating back to 1970, Designers Guild is headquartered in North London. It is renowned as a designer and wholesaler of high-quality furnishing fabrics, catering primarily to the interior design sector.

The company is headed and owned by brother and sister, Tricia Guild, founder and creative director, and Simon Jeffreys, group chief executive. Designers Guild holds an “impressive legacy”, with Tricia Guild actively contributing her expertise for over 50 years, earning an OBE in recognition of her “outstanding impact” in the world of interior design.

Having maintained market position through the COVID years, Designers Guild sought a funding partner that could support future growth and investment into key areas of the business: enhanced product development, expanding into new markets, and fortifying operational capabilities.

IGF was chosen as the ideal partner to meet the funding requirements. The independent asset-based lender delivered a tailored financing solution, incorporating an inventory facility, that will support Designers Guild’s continued success.

Simon Jeffreys, CEO of Designers Guild, commented: “We met with decision-makers very early in the process, something that gave us confidence, and it was clear we were dealing with a relationship driven lender.

“Having spent many years working with high street banks, we found IGF’s personal and solution-oriented approach refreshing and the flexible ABL facility delivered puts us in a great place to continue growing the business, this year and into the future.”

Oliver Smith, business development manager at IGF added: “We are pleased to have partnered with Designers Guild, supporting their future growth, and providing them with the facility they needed to forge ahead confidently. We take pride in our ability to understand our clients and their unique challenges and ambitions.

“This approach means we are able to provide funding solutions that meet the specific needs of our clients. Special thanks to David Oliver at Alliance Commercial Finance for the valuable support alongside the deal. We look forward to working with Simon and the team going forwards”.
