Warwickshire residential development generates six-figure local area investment
Work is coming to a close on a development in Cubbington that has become part of the village community and generated more than £800,000 in investment for infrastructure and services in the area.
Homebuilder Bellway is delivering 133 homes at its Hazelwood development off Coventry Road, and there are now only four properties remaining for sale. Construction is expected to finish on site in October or November this year.
Angela Nurse, head of sales for Bellway South Midlands, commented: “Our Hazelwood development has been a great success and it is very satisfying for all of us involved in it to see the homes being completed, and a neighbourhood thriving.
“Some wonderful connections have developed between Hazelwood and the community as we have loved getting involved with local organisations.
“We are also contributing a significant sum of money to support those who live in the area, and this includes more than £450k in funding for schools, plus additional contributions covering facilities such as sports facilities, policing, health services, biodiversity, library services and a new bus stop.”
Work started on building the homes in 2019, and during the construction process Bellway has forged links with the nearby school and church. Last year Bellway donated £250 towards a fundraising quiz night that was organised to raise money to repair the broken clock at St Mary’s Church in the village.
And earlier this year, Bellway invited a group of 31 Year 6 pupils from nearby Cubbington CofE Primary School to visit the building site. The youngsters put on hi-vis jackets and hard hats and were shown around homes at various stages of construction.
Hazelwood sits on two neighbouring pieces of land, with one of them accessed from Rugby Road and the other from Coventry Road. Nearly a third of the whole area is given over to green open space.
Angela added: “There are many reasons why customers have been drawn to this development. The location is one of them, as it is a semi-rural spot that is only a 10-minute drive from the centre of Leamington Spa, so it really offers the best of both worlds.
“And the variety of houses at Hazelwood has offered something for people at every stage of the home ownership journey, as the properties range from one-bedroom maisonettes to four-bedroom houses.”
