Building work progressing well at new development in Elswick
Bellway is building 79 new homes at Whitworth View as part of a joint development of 124 homes, with the other properties being delivered by Amethyst Homes. Bellway North East are launching the 12-acre site, off Westmorland Road, on August 26. Newcastle City Council approved the joint planning application for the scheme in January 2023.
Emma Chesterton, sales director for Bellway North East, said: “Construction work at Whitworth View is well underway and is progressing well. The building schedule should see us in a position to launch the site in August when we will offer the first homes for sale.
“At this development we will be delivering a selection of two, three and four-bedroom new homes for private sale, carefully chosen to meet the needs of the local housing market.
“We will be using Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) to speed up the delivery of these new homes, which means the homes will be assembled on site using timber frame panels in place of traditional breeze blocks behind the brickwork.
“The Bellway properties are all from our Artisan Collection a flagship collection of homes designed after decades of customer feedback and built employing a combination of the latest construction techniques and traditional craftsmanship to ensure excellence in both architecture and quality.”
All of the Bellway homes will feature a garage or allocated parking, with all properties having access to electric vehicle charging points, while 23 properties will be fitted with solar roof panels to generate renewable energy and help to reduce carbon emissions.
Emma said: “This has been designed to be a sustainable development which will feature public open space and fantastic views over the Tyne Valley to the south of the river. Residents will have local shops on their doorstep but will be just a mile and half from Newcastle city centre while the hundreds of retail outlets at Eldon Square and the Metrocentre are only two and four miles away respectively.
“Parents will be attracted by the range of well-regarded schools in the area, with St Michael’s RC Primary School neighbouring the development, and Hawthorn Primary School and St John’s Primary School both just half a mile away. Commuters are well-served by the local road network, which has the A1 within a five-mile drive.”
