Barratt takes on Big Hike for charity

A team of determined colleagues from Hampshire housebuilder, Barratt Homes, will take on the Big Barratt Hike for another year as it aims to beat its £130,000 fundraising target.

On 1-3 September, six employees from the leading housebuilder’s Southampton division, will hike either a 10-mile or a 25-mile trail along the Derbyshire-Staffordshire border in the Peak District in just one week.

Victoria Grinnall, Benjamin Bishop, Padraic Rutter, Alastair Campbell, Austin Barfield and Bradley Anslow join a total of 22 teams and 120 employees from across Barratt Homes to take on the challenge and raise money for the Outward Bound Trust and Whizz Kids.

The Big Barratt Hike is an annual tradition that marks a partnership between Barratt and Outward Bound, a charity that helps inspire young people, give them confidence and teaches them transferable skills to take their next steps in life.

Last year, the Big Barratt Hike raised £130,000 including a £70,000 donation from Barratt as well as £32,000 given by the Barratt Foundation. The money was split between the Outward Bound Trust and Magic Breakfast, which feeds over 200,000 children each day.

It is hoped the Barratt Big Hike will raise even more funds towards this year’s beneficiaries, which, as well as the Outward Bound Trust, will be Whizzkids – a charity that provides disabled children with the essential wheelchairs and other mobility equipment they need to lead fun and active childhoods.

Committed to supporting local and community projects, team Barratt is ready to take on the challenge.
