“Spectacular” East London riverside urban village unveils first building launch

Weston Homes has unveiled the launch of Edmund Rise, the first building within Phase Two of Abbey Quay, a “spectacular” 6-acre riverside urban village in Barking.

Building on the resounding success of Phase One, which is now sold out, Weston Homes are excited to introduce the start of Phase 2 which includes a vibrant new Residents’ Hub, providing an inviting space for work and socialising right within the heart of this exceptional development.

Abbey Quay offers a collection of 1,089 mixed tenure one, two and three-bedroom apartments in buildings, ranging from seven to 29 storeys. The new homes all have their own private balcony or terrace, alongside 22,281 sq ft of commercial and leisure space which is planned to include a new pavilion restaurant, local shops, cafés, gymnasium and community hub.

Edmund Rise offers 100 one and two-bedroom apartments, all with their own private balcony or terrace and views of either London, the River Roding, Loxford Plaza or the landscaped podium garden.

Working in partnership with Barking and Dagenham Council, Weston Homes have allocated a number of apartments within Edmund Rise that are available to buy at just 80 per cent of their market value but still giving their buyer 100 per cent of the ownership as part of the Discount Market Sale (DMS) scheme.

Adjacent to Edmund Rise is the new Residents’ Hub, exclusively for Abbey Quay residents. This hub offers a range of amenities, including a concierge service, parcel collection, communal spaces for socialising and meeting neighbours, as well as comfortable seating and workspace options.

In addition to Edmund Rise, Phase 2 will also see the launch of two further residential buildings, Jasper Wharf and Edward Point, with Edward Point offering shared ownership homes, which will be available to buy this Autumn.

Abbey Quay has been master planned to provide a new urban village for Barking. The development directly overlooks the River Roding, a tributary of the River Thames, and is bordered by London Road and Abbey Road, overlooking Abbey Green park, just a short walk from Barking’s mainline and London underground station.

Suzanne Aplin, group sales & marketing director at Weston Homes, commented: “Building on the tremendous success of Phase One, we are pleased to witness this exceptional development taking shape and becoming a vibrant reality. Situated at the heart of Barking, this urban village offers the perfect blend of convenience and tranquillity.”
