Independent car retailer creates new local jobs with expansion to Newcastle location
Independent car retailer Lloyd Motor Group, is poised to open its fourth Newcastle location, creating new jobs there.
The automotive retailer has announced its acquisition of the dealership premises formerly operated by Cazoo on Scotswood Road, Newcastle. The premises will reopen as a used car retailer and a vehicle preparation centre later this year.
Covering 10,808 sqft, the new site will join Lloyd Motor Group’s already established Newcastle sites, Lloyd BMW, Lloyd MINI and Lloyd Newcastle Bodyshop, and will be the Group’s 34th retail and service centre across North England and Southern Scotland.
Lloyd Motor Group’s managing director, Sam Lloyd, commented: “We are delighted to add this location to our portfolio and enhance our offering for car buyers across the North East. This exciting opportunity for Lloyd Motor Group will allow us to strengthen our presence across the region.”
In recent years, Lloyd Motor Group has gone from strength to strength in the North East with significant business growth and several successful community initiatives. Lloyd Newcastle BMW has consistently been recognised as ‘one of the UK’s leading’ BMW retailers, winning multiple awards along the way.
Supporting local communities is at the forefront of Lloyd Motor Group’s culture, with the Lloyd Newcastle MINI team recently volunteering at ‘The People’s Kitchen’, a local organisation which helps vulnerable people across Newcastle. Lloyd Newcastle Bodyshop has also had a significant period of growth over recent years, creating new local jobs.
With multiple manufacturer approvals, including BMW and MINI, Newcastle Bodyshop is highly recognised for its repair work on Porsche and Bentley models. Their expert team of now 25 staff members have an impressive 334 years of service experience between them.
Lloyd Newcastle’s head of business, David Lewins, added: “Our team in Newcastle takes great pride in offering a personalised and friendly experience. We’re looking forward to taking on the challenge of new premises and ensuring it is as successful as our other Newcastle locations.”
Starting their journey with one BMW retailer in Cumbria in 1976, the family-owned company has now grown to employ over 1,300 people across more than 30 locations throughout the north of England and south of Scotland.
