Cybersecurity specialist becomes third unicorn company to set up office in Leeds
KnowBe4, the provider of the world’s largest security awareness training and simulated phishing platform, has announced the opening of its new UK headquarters in Leeds.
This expansion marks an ‘exciting milestone’ for KnowBe4, showcasing Leeds’ burgeoning reputation as a thriving tech hub. Located at One Leeds City Office Park, the new office will be officially opened by KnowBe4’s founder and CEO, Stu Sjouwerman.
The serial entrepreneur and data security expert founded the company to help organisations manage the problem of cybercrime social engineering tactics through new school security awareness training.
Alongside Sjouwerman will be Lead Security Awareness Advocate for KnowBe4, Javvad Malik who will be on hand to discuss the company’s vision for advancing cybersecurity education and awareness on a global scale.
Stu commented: “We are thrilled to extend our footprint to Leeds, a city that mirrors our commitment to innovation, security, and growth.
“With cyber threats evolving at an unprecedented pace, it’s essential for organisations and individuals to be equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to combat these risks effectively. Our presence here signifies our dedication to making a meaningful impact on cybersecurity awareness in the region and beyond.”
Javvad Malik, lead security awareness advocate at KnowBe4, expressed his enthusiasm for the new venture, adding: “As an advocate for cybersecurity awareness, I am excited about the opportunity to engage with the vibrant tech community in Leeds.
“Together, we can raise the bar on security education and empower individuals and organisations to defend against threats from phishing, social engineering and other evolving tactics used by cybercriminals.”
KnowBe4’s expansion to Leeds aligns seamlessly with the city’s mission to cultivate an environment that supports technological innovation, entrepreneurship, and global partnerships.
Councillor Jonathan Pryor, Deputy Leader and Executive Member for Economy, Culture and Education, Leeds City Council, said: “KnowBe4 will be joining a thriving digital sector in the city.
“From the grassroots organisations like Leeds Digital Festival, the largest tech festival in the UK, to world leading health innovators, Leeds is a place where major organisations choose to call home. Our deep and diverse talent pool alongside our thriving tech sector continues to make Leeds a location of choice for global innovators, especially in digital.”
