North East business launches new leadership programme to transform the lives of local business leaders

North East business support organisation, TEDCO, has announced a new initiative for business leaders and their teams looking to hone their leadership skills and take their businesses to the next level.

Launching this Autumn and taking applications now, the four-week-long, TEDCO Leadership Programme aims to upskill leaders and soon-to-be leaders by encouraging self-reflection, strategic thinking, navigating change, and organisational culture and values.

The course is fully-funded by the North of Tyne Combined Authority, meaning there are no costs for eligible businesses based in Newcastle, North Tyneside and Northumberland.

Announcing the Leadership Programme, TEDCO chief executive James Craft said: “As a business support organisation, we often hear from founders that they’d benefit from guidance on leadership, especially in light of taking on new staff. We’ve therefore created this programme to address those common questions, and develop the confidence of those businesses taking part.”

Echoing Mr Craft’s comments, Amy Surtees, MORE Cobalt manager at Cobalt Business Park, said: “We’re proud to be working with TEDCO to bring this programme to North East businesses. We know from our work here at Cobalt that enterprises and business leaders from all sectors are eager to enhance their leadership skills or put forward someone on their team who has the potential to develop into a leadership role.

“That’s exactly what this leadership programme offers, and we look forward to welcoming participating businesses to Cobalt Business Park over the coming weeks.”

The course is being delivered at Cobalt Business Park and is part of the Digital Business Pipeline programme which aims to get more people into the technology and digital industry.

Stephen Fenwick, project lead for the Digital Business Pipeline, added: “It’s fantastic to work with TEDCO and Cobalt Business Park on this new Leadership Programme. This will make a real difference to ambitious businesses across the North of Tyne region, and we’re proud to be supporting this initiative through our Digital Business Pipeline project.”

The first session of the Leadership Programme takes place at Cobalt Business Park on Tuesday 19th September, with three follow-up sessions online. Candidates are expected to attend all four sessions and a certificate will be awarded at the end of the programme.
