Teesside University’s brand-new London campus welcomes first cohort of students

The first students starting their academic journey at Teesside University London are settling into their new surroundings in the capital.

A range of welcome activities have been taking place to introduce the new students to Teesside University London, based at London’s Here East. Events have included a tour of the Here East campus and Olympic Park to provide an opportunity for students to meet their course tutors and other students among their cohort.

Students were also invited to join a guided tour of some of London’s most renowned landmarks, including Trafalgar Square, St James’s Palace, Buckingham Palace, St James’s Park, Downing Street, Westminster Abbey and Big Ben.

An official induction event closes this first week, with students receiving a formal introduction to Teesside University London from key members of staff, along with student orientation and introductions to course tutors, personal development coaches and the student support team.

Kathryn Elliott, head of partnerships at Teesside University London, commented: “We have been thrilled to welcome the first students to our new campus. It’s been really exciting to meet them as they settle in and get involved in our welcome activities.

“We want to ensure our students take full advantage of the opportunities and networks available to them in London, and to provide a welcoming environment for them to work and study. The feedback we’ve received so far has been fantastic and we look forward to welcoming more students as they join us to study at Teesside University London.”

Teesside University London will bring in-demand subjects to new markets, with an initial focus on digital technologies and enterprise. The new campus will capitalise on Teesside University’s strengths in animation and games design and directly links the ‘thriving’ digital cluster of Middlesbrough with existing partners based in London.

Teesside University London reinforces the University’s commitment to ‘transform lives and economies and provide an outstanding student and learning experience’. Teesside University London is currently recruiting for its November intake of students.
