Law firm Gordons has strengthened its commercial team with the appointment of two new solicitors and a paralegal. Zara Bojovic joins the firm as a solicitor from consumer credit reporting agency TransUnion, where she worked in-house since 2014.

Ella Fitzpatrick has been hired as a newly qualified solicitor, having completed her training contract at Gordons. During her training contract, Ella spent four months on secondment to Premier League champions, Manchester City FC.

Zara and Ella are joined by Hannah Cottrell, who has been appointed as a paralegal. She will commence her training contract with Gordons in September 2024.

Gordons’ commercial team supports clients with general commercial contracts, IT and technology, and privacy and data matters, and acts for clients such as Wren Kitchens, Moss Bros, Ocado Retail, AO.com, Evri and Sumo Digital.

Commenting on the new appointments, partner and head of commercial, Andy Brian, said: “We are delighted to welcome Zara, Ella and Hannah into the team. We’ve grown quickly over the past few years and their appointments will set us up well for the future.”

Gordons head of digital and technology, Ryan Gracey, added: “Zara gained a lot of valuable experience on IT and tech projects during her time in-house, and it’s tremendous to have her join the team at such an exciting time.”

The Huddersfield based Yorkshire Country Properties (YCP) has strengthened its management team with a key appointment and three significant promotions. Hard on the heels of the appointment of Paul Brown as managing director comes the news that a brand-new executive team is now in place.

Rob Wilkinson has joined YCP as financial director, while Mike May, Sam McGregor and Jenny Wass have been promoted to head of construction, head of sales and head of marketing respectively.

Rob, a Yorkshireman born in Wakefield, has joined YCP from Tilia Homes, previously known as Kier Living. A graduate of Nottingham Trent University, Rob has also worked with accountancy firm Armstrong Watson.

He commented: “This is a tremendously exciting move for me. Yorkshire Country Properties are a trailblazer in the development of beautiful, state-of-the-art houses, from starter homes to five-bed executive and family houses. It was too good an opportunity to miss. There is an excellent team already in place here and there is huge potential for growth.”

Paul Brown explained: “I am delighted to welcome Rob to Yorkshire Country Properties. This is a very significant appointment for the company as we embark on a programme of site acquisitions and expansion. A sound and sensible financial base is crucial to every successful company and Rob will provide exactly that.

“Meanwhile these three promotions are richly deserved. Mike, Sam and Jen are all very talented and are committed to making YCP the very best housebuilder in West Yorkshire. Their experience and expertise have already proved invaluable and, together, they comprise a superb management team.”

Sheffield law firm Wake Smith has added two solicitors to its growing team of legal experts as it continues to boost its busy teams in response to increases in work. Harriet Gardner and Millie Vaughan join the 80-strong firm which recently secured the coveted industry standard Lexcel accreditation for the 10th year running.

Harriet joins the busy employment team headed up by Stacey Cox, and has five years’ experience working in regional law firms, while Millie Vaughan returns to Wake Smith’s company commercial team, where she qualified as a solicitor in September 2022.

Harriet will advise clients on the full range of employment law issues, including both contentious and non-contentious matters and regularly supports employers with day-to-day employment law and HR issues including difficult investigations, disciplinary and grievance procedures.

Harriet commented: “I was attracted to Wake Smith after a solicitor friend recommended the firm. She continuously said how much she loved the firm, and her job, and that she felt it was a great environment to learn and progress.

Millie Vaughan comes back into the established company commercial team, led by Wake Smith chairman John Baddeley and director Rebecca Robinson. She will work on a wide range of corporate and commercial matters, including mergers, acquisitions and disposals, re-organisations, and shareholder and partnership agreements.

Millie added: “I am really pleased to be rejoining Wake Smith’s Company Commercial team. Wake Smith has a great reputation, and it is a friendly and welcoming firm. I am very much looking forward to working with the team again.”
