Gender, Sexual and Relationship Diversity (GSRD) Therapy Workshops – Book Now!
The North East Workforce Skills Programme and the University of Sunderland are hosting a Gender, Sexual and Relationship Diversity (GSRD) Therapy Workshops on 23rd and 24th November 2023 at Hope Street Xchange in Sunderland.
Current thinking in GSRD Therapy is the first part of a 2-day workshop with Silva Neves, who will present the essential knowledge therapists need to have to practice confidently and efficiently with clients with gender, sex, sexuality and relationship diversity (GSRD). You can attend just this workshop or you can attend both workshops, it is entirely up to you.
Over the years, offering therapy with a GSRD focus was a set of “special theories for a special population” but as the modern population self-identifies with more diverse gender, sexual and relationship identities, GSRD therapy has now become a modality of its own.
23rd November: Current Thinking in GSRD Therapy
On Day 1, you will learn:
- The definitions of GSRD
- The core competencies of GSRD therapy
- The current context of the challenges working with LGBTQIA+ clients
- How to work therapeutically with LGBTQIA+ clients
- Clinical discussions based on case studies
24th November: Queerness and Polyamory
On Day 2, you will learn:
- How to understand being “Queer” as how to goes beyond the LGBTQIA+ populations, as some heterosexual clients’ gender, sexuality and relationships may fall outside of the mainstream.
- How “queering” our psychotherapy theories may be useful when working with all clients, as and when appropriate.
- How to work therapeutically with people who are in ethical non-monogamy relationships.
- How to work therapeutically with couples who want to open their relationships.
- Clinical discussions based on case studies.
