Popeyes UK launches second Yorkshire restaurant and announces location for third

Yorkshire’s second Popeyes UK drive-thru officially opened its doors on Friday 29 September at The Peel Centre in Barnsley, with the launch seeing customers queue for over 10 hours for its famous Chicken Sandwiches.

Lee Isaacs was the first in the drive-thru lane after arriving at 1am. He said: “I first tried Popeyes in the US 4 years ago. When the Popeyes Chicken Sandwich launched in the US it changed the game and I was blown away by how good it was. I couldn’t believe it when I heard that Popeyes was opening in Barnsley so I had to be the first in the queue.”

Jesse, one of the first people in the queue, added: “I have never tried Popeyes before, but heard it was good. It is so popular in America so I thought it must be worth a try, so I got here at 7am to be one of the first in Barnsley”.

Renowned for its Chicken Sandwich which ‘broke the internet’ and its world-famous ‘shatter crunch’ chicken, the restaurant will offer the brand’s full mouth-watering menu, which showcases their 12-hour marinated chicken.

The menu includes the much loved Signature Louisiana Chicken, Chicken Tenders, Hot Wings and Popeyes original Southern Biscuits with gravy and more, seven days a week.

The Barnsley restaurant will also offer the Popeyes Breakfast menu, including the brand new, US inspired Big Cajun roll, which features a Cajun hash brown, sausage, egg, and Cajun ketchup.

Neil Williamson, Chief Operating Officer at Popeyes UK, commented: “We are once again blown away by the response from Popeyes fans, with some customers queuing up from as early as 1am to try our famous Chicken Sandwich.

“We are excited to see the Popeyes buzz continue to grow within the region with our third Yorkshire site due to open at Meadowhall Shopping Centre later next month.”
