Adlington Retirement Living wins Seniors Housing Scheme of the Year
Adlington Retirement Living has won the Housing Scheme of the Year at the prestigious HealthInvestor Seniors Housing Awards for the second year in a row.
The Sidings, a new Adlington Retirement Living community in Lytham, Lancashire, was crowned winner at the HealthInvestor Seniors Housing Awards 2023.
The judges were impressed by the range of one, two and three-bedroom spacious apartments at The Sidings, which are designed to offer flexibility to suit everyone. The design team at Adlington focus on the little things that make a big difference – from how a home feels, such as natural light, a user-friendly layout, a private patio or balcony to smart, space-saving storage.
They also praised the outstanding on-site facilities and gardens, which homeowners gain as an extension of their own home when moving from a family home to an Adlington Retirement Living community.
As a family owned and run business, Adlington Retirement Living has launched 16 successful Integrated Retirement Communities since 2008, and has more than 1000 happy homeowners.
Recently opened communities include The Sidings in Lancashire, the Spindles in Menston, West Yorkshire and The Woodlands in Heaton Mersey, Stockport, which also won Seniors Housing Scheme of the Year in 2022.
Two more communities will launch soon - The Newlands in Kempston, Bedfordshire, is set to open later this month and Broadleaf House in Wylde Green, Sutton Coldfield, will open in the New Year. Brookfields House in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire is due to open summer 2024. Currently, nine Adlington Retirement Living communities are either under construction or have sites owned and awaiting planning.
Dr Ed Gladman, CEO of Adlington Retirement Living, said: “We create beautiful apartments for the mid-market audience in quality retirement communities, providing safe and secure environments with stimulating activities, extensive communal facilities and beautiful private gardens. Our communities are designed to support the independence, well-being and happiness of our homeowners.
“Over the next 25 years, the number of people in England over 85 is predicted to double to 2.6 million. There is an urgent need to address the shortage of appropriate housing for older people, and at Adlington Retirement Living, we are playing our part through our progressive land acquisition strategy to provide 647 new homes over the next three years.”
“This national award celebrates the highest standards and the best new integrated retirement communities in the country. We’re really pleased that the judges have been impressed by our unique approach to retirement living again this year. This accolade is testament to the hard work, passion and dedication of our first-class team.”
Adlington Retirement Living is one of the top three companies that designs, builds and operates Integrated Retirement Communities in the UK. In recent years it has grown from around 30 employees to a team of more than 200, including its in-house experts from land acquisition, planning, architectural and technical design, procurement, construction, sales and marketing, legal, community operations and its resale agency.
In 2019, the business launched Adlington Management Services, to provide a consistent, outstanding service to its homeowners. They are responsible for the practical aspects of running a retirement community, such as maintaining the building, as well as the more emotional aspects. That part of their role is all about creating a caring, supportive environment to positively contribute to the health, happiness and well-being of homeowners. They ensure that every homeowner’s experience exceeds their expectations.
A recent homeowner survey found that 100% would recommend living in an Adlington Retirement Living community to friends or family.
The HealthInvestor Seniors Housing Awards celebrate excellence in seniors housing, one of the fastest growing sub-sectors of real estate. This year’s awards attracted a record number of entries and the winners were announced on Tuesday 3 October at the Hilton London Bankside.
