Adventurous staff raise funds for baby hospice
Adventurous staff from a Warwickshire company reached new heights as they raised more than £1,500 for a baby hospice in Coventry.
Staff and family from The Wigley Group battled through rain and wind as they trekked 18 miles to and from the summit of Wales’ highest mountain, Mount Snowdon.
The team raised a total of £1,670 for Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice, which provides palliative and respite care for babies and children up to five years old with a range of life limiting, life threatening or complex conditions.
Finance Manager Alexis Considine, who was part of a team of 12 who took part, said: “I enjoyed the challenge, the rain was really heavy at some points, but we all supported each other every step of the way and it was a great effort from everybody involved.
“Although it was difficult weather conditions, knowing we were doing this for such a worthwhile cause which supports so many children with life-limiting illnesses – and their parents – really drove us on. We hope the money raised helps to make a difference.”
Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice is based in Ash Green and is the only hospice in the Midlands providing respite, palliative and end-of-life care to babies and children up to the age of five.
Lara Taylerson-Whyte, Corporate Fundraiser at Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice, added: “On behalf of everyone here at Zoe’s Place, we’d like to say thank you to The Wigley Group for their incredible fundraising and for taking on such a challenging trek in support of the hospice.
“Zoe’s Place is almost entirely run on public donations and it is thanks to support like this that we are able to offer our services free of charge to all who need it and ensure that very unwell children can enjoy the best possible quality of life. Thank you to everyone who took part and supported the event for raising this amazing total!”
