London shopping district bolsters wellbeing and beauty offering with new opening

Borough Yards, the new retail, leisure, office  and dining district in Borough, has announced the arrival of three new tenants. Ted Baker-owned barbers Ted’s Grooming Room and skin specialists re:lax arrive this autumn to bolster its beauty offer, while the London debut of West African-inspired restaurant Akara becomes the latest restaurant to open.

The arrivals follow the signing of 12  additional  brands over the summer, including Ace & Tate, Amorino, Bancone, Lids and MALIN+GOETZ, alongside the unveiling of a brand-new pedestrian section connecting  the district to the Thames for the first time.  

The 160,000 sq ft  regeneration project  which  provides  new offices, a cinema, shops and restaurants within revived Victorian railway arches next door to Borough Market already counts The Office Group, Everyman Cinema  and  Le  Chocolat  Alain Ducasse as occupiers.  

Launched in 2008 by  renowned  British fashion brand  Ted  Baker, Ted’s Grooming Room  offers a range of male grooming services. With  19  locations across London, Borough Yards  was  chosen  for its  blend of  heritage and  contemporary design, reflecting  the barbers’ own  mix  of 1920s-inspired style and modern innovation.  

Specialising  in bespoke facials and skin treatments, re:lax  marks  its second location  following  its launch in Hackney in  2018. Endorsed by Vogue, The Sunday Times and singer Dua Lipa’s Service95 newsletter, the skin specialists’  new flagship  in Borough Yards  will feature four beauty treatment rooms.  

The  new beauty arrivals  are joined by the  launch  of  West African-inspired restaurant  Akara, named after  the  crispy black-eye bean fritters  that  that will serve as its signature dish.  

This autumn, Borough Yards will also  welcome a series of pop-up art installations, including  the English National Opera’s Under the Skin, a celebration of diversity in opera, and  Delight, a  two-floor  immersive  experience visiting from  Seoul, solidifying  the area’s  position as an emerging cultural  hub.   

With 16 million visitors passing through London Bridge every year but the area being short of a day-to-night integrated shopping, restaurant and leisure district, Borough Yards is fast emerging as the go-to cultural hotspot in this area of the capital.  

It is delivered by investor and developer MARK, which has a multi-sector  portfolio across Europe’s leading cities and  a strong reputation  for delivering some of London’s most successful regeneration projects, including Mayfair’s Burlington Arcade a hallmark of London luxury retail.
